The Junkers Ju 87 dive bomber was one of the most widely used weapons of the Luftwaffe. Also called the 'Stuka', this attack monoplane was designed shortly after German officials saw the effectiveness of the American made Curtiss Helldivers. From 1939 to 1944 over 5,700 Stukas were produced for the German war effort. With their vulture-like silhouette and their screaming, high speed bombing dives, the Ju 87s struck fear in the hearts of the Allies.
