To Do: Notarize document, check Consumer Reports to decide which food processor to buy, pick up Life of Pi DVD, download new Miranda Lambert and Justin Timberlake songs. The Central Arkansas Library System (CALS) can help get these kinds of items checked off a To Do list at no charge.

Throughout May, all thirteen CALS branches are getting back to basics with "CALS 101" programs highlighting free resources offered by the library. Programs at branches include information on the CALS website and online services, free downloadable eBooks and downloadable music, access to free magazines online, networking at the library, and the Encyclopedia of Arkansas.

cals 101 scavenger hunt

The scavenger hunt, May 1-18, will include tasks or items available at Central Arkansas Library System (CALS) branches. Beginning May 1, patrons may pick up a play card for the Great Library Scavenger Hunt from any branch or download one here. A Kindle Fire will be given as a grand prize to one player.

To be entered into the drawing, players should answer at least 75% of the questions correctly and return completed forms to a branch by Saturday, May 18. Qualifying entries will be entered into a drawing for prizes, including the grand prize of a Kindle Fire, to be presented at the Great Library Scavenger Hunt Party on Thursday, May 23, at 6:30 p.m. at the Main Library's Darragh Center, 100 Rock Street.

Quick! Participate in the first Y-U-♥-CALS make your own video program. Content can include what you love about reading; why you love libraries in general, CALS or the Literary Festival; what you like to read; and/or what is fun about CALS.

Upload your creative video (3 minutes or less) to YouTube and email a link to your video to pr@cals.org by May 18. Clips from different videos will be compiled and then shown National Scavenger Hunt Day, May 23!
