Sidney S. McMath Library, the newest addition to the Central Arkansas Library System, offers patrons thousands of books and audio/visual items as well as a stocked pond and a nature trail that winds around the 10-acre site. The 10,700 square-feet facility features a children's area, public meeting rooms and wireless Internet access.
People of the Library
Sid McMath was elected Governor of Arkansas in 1948. He entered office January 11, 1949 as the nation's youngest governor. He was reelected in 1950. His administration built the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences which was financed with a two-cent tax on cigarettes.
Movies at McMath
February is Movie Month at McMath! In celebration of Black History Month, we'll be showing Pride on Wednesday, Feb. 3, at 6 p.m.; The Express on Saturday, Feb. 6, at 1:30 p.m.; and Remember the Titans on Saturday, Feb. 20, at 1 p.m.
We also have our on-going "New Release" movie series. February includes Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs on the 2nd at 4 p.m.; Fame on the 4th at 6 p.m.; Tyler Perry's I Can Do Bad All By Myself on the 6th at 4 p.m.; The Invention of Lying on the 13th at 4 p.m.; Michael Jackson's This Is It on the 20th at 3 p.m.; and The Time-Traveler's Wife on the 27th at 4 p.m.
