FULL-TIME POSITIONS

ARCHIVAL PROJECT SPECIALIST – Full-time, one-year position with the possibility of a second year of funding, the project specialist will oversee processing of audio recordings containing speeches by Bill Clinton, covering his years as attorney general and as governor of Arkansas. Those materials are held by the Butler Center for Arkansas Studies, the history department of the Central Arkansas Library System (CALS). The project specialist's responsibilities will include preservation and digitization of analog cassette tapes, creation of an EAD finding aid in Archivists' Toolkit for the recordings, and preparing publicity and outreach plans for the digital collection, as well as overseeing a project assistant and monitoring overall project progress. Responsibilities will include working the research room desk in the Arkansas Studies Institute building and other duties as assigned. The specialist will need to work collaboratively as well as independently, be able to prioritize tasks, and meet applicable deadlines. Archival experience, familiarity with Archivists' Toolkit, knowledge of metadata standards, and excellent writing skills required. Familiarity with magnetic tape, Library of Congress subject terms, and audio editing software preferred. Master's degree in an appropriate field or comparable experience and familiarity with Arkansas history and geography preferred. Salary range from $30,000 to $32,000, depending on qualifications and experience. Excellent benefits. Those materials are held by the Butler Center for Arkansas Studies, the history department of the Central Arkansas Library System (CALS). Responsibilities include preservation and digitization of analog cassette tapes and monitoring of recordings to acquire data about the speech or other recordings. Responsibilities will include working the research room desk in the Arkansas Studies Institute building and other duties as assigned. The specialist will need to work collaboratively as well as independently, be able to prioritize tasks, and meet applicable deadlines. Archival experience, familiarity with Archivists' Toolkit, knowledge of metadata standards, and excellent writing skills required. Familiarity with magnetic tape, Library of Congress subject terms, and audio editing software preferred. A bachelor's degree in an appropriate field or comparable experience and familiarity with Arkansas history and geography preferred. LIBRARY PAGE POSITIONS

Pages are part-time positions, sorting and shelving materials. Must be able to lift 20 lbs. Must be able to reach all shelving with aid of a kick stool. Must have some knowledge of computers. Evening and Saturday hours may be required for branch locations; Sunday hours may be required for Main and H.R.C.Children's Library. Contact individual location for specifics. $7.50/hr.
