Maumelle Library Celebrates 15th Anniversary

Central Arkansas Library System's Maumelle Library will celebrate 15 years of service on Thursday, February 3, 2011. Coffee and cookies will be available for patrons all day. Patrons are encouraged to write valentines to the library on pre-cut hearts, which will be in a valentine box in the foyer. A display from the completed hearts will be created for Valentine's Day.

The library had 116,905 visitors and circulated 183,003 items in 2010. The original 8,500 square foot building was built in 1996, and was expanded to 12,000 square feet in 2006. Since 1996, attendance has increased over 70% and circulation increased 338%.

Over 30% of Maumelle residents have active library cards, and residents throughout Pulaski County use the library's books, DVDs, computers, wireless access, and reference materials. In 2010, 24,571 patrons used the library's public desktop and laptop computers, and Maumelle Library hosted 359 children's programs and 65 adult programs.
